# Find your way around

Use the sidebar to open bookings, booking links, and the setup areas available to your role. The workspace name identifies the configuration and records you are working with.

## Find a page or action

Open the search control in the Distro app's header, or press **⌘K** on Mac or **Ctrl+K** on Windows. Search for a page, a supported workspace record, or an action such as creating a booking link.

Use the arrow keys to choose a result and **Enter** to open it. **Escape** closes search. Results and actions follow your access; members do not see all admin configuration.

The app's search is separate from the [Chrome extension's command palette](/integrations/chrome-extension/command-palette.md), which has its own shortcut.

## Review notifications

Open the notification bell in the header to see recent activity in the current workspace. Follow a notification to open its destination and mark it read. Opening the list alone does not mark everything read.

Use **Mark all as read** to clear unread notifications for your user in this workspace. Open the full notification list when you need older items. If refreshing fails, retry; the visible list stays available.

## Change your view

Use collection search, filters, and layout controls to find the records you need. [Save a view](/views.md) when you want to return to a useful set of filters.

The app's light and dark appearance is separate from the [booking themes](/settings/workspace-settings/branding.md) your guests see. Use the app's appearance control or search for **Switch to light mode** or **Switch to dark mode**.

Open [Copilot](/copilot.md) for workspace questions and guided setup. Review proposed changes before applying them.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.distro.so/using-distro.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
